Relentless Pessimism - Enough!
I’ve had it with the relentless pessimism that we’re bombarded with now every single day.
So - ok - bad news sells papers, and when things are bad enough for print media anyway, the more bad news they can churn out - the better it is for sales. Read this quote from the Daily Mail:
“The name of this spectre is the fearful question – is Britain going bankrupt? More pertinently, can Britain, or any other country, ever actually become insolvent?
The short answer is – yes.”
I can’t even begin to describe how mad that quote makes me… it’s a non-sentence. ”Can a country become insolvent - yes” - no great surprise, but it’s written in such a way to instill fear in the individual to make them think that Britain is on the verge of bankruptcy and within the next few weeks we’ll be living in caves and fighting each other with sticks and very big rocks.
Even the BBC is at it. Every ‘expert comment’ they have on a piece of financial news is the usual doom and gloom. Even positive news stories are spun to the negative.
Enough.
We could be living in fear of our homes being shelled, or fear of torture, or starvation. We’ve a lot to be thankful for here - so let’s just suck it up and get on with it.
