Dinosaurs
Showed my 2 year old son a picture of a dinosaur and he said ‘peacock’. Either he’s really clever and subscribes to the bird/dinosaur evolution theory or he just got mixed up. I suspect the former. Proud dad.

Glasgow "The Day" →
I love this blog - it’s run by a mate of mine, but it really captures a Glasgow that lots of people don’t appreciate.  Glasgow is easily one of, if not the best, city in the UK - I’ve traveled around a fair and Glasgow remains one of my favourites.  It has so much character, lovely buildings and genuine people.  If you’ve never been - check it out.  If you have - go again....

Relentless Pessimism - Enough!
I’ve had it with the relentless pessimism that we’re bombarded with now every single day. So - ok - bad news sells papers, and when things are bad enough for print media anyway, the more bad news they can churn out - the better it is for sales.  Read this quote from the Daily Mail: “The name of this spectre is the fearful question – is Britain going bankrupt? More pertinently,...

Faster Broadband is Go... →
At last. I’m really struggling with my broadband at home.  I don’t live in a city - but I don’t live in the sticks either.  Most nights I’m bumbling along with around 300kbs and a 100:1 contention ratio.  Access to high speed broadband is becoming a major differentiator in deciding whether to move to an area.  In the not too distant future, a home without a high speed...

Twitter and the Event Browser for the Human...
I’m an avid Twitter user, or, as I like to describe it, “Twit”.  Twitter uptake in the UK has grown >900% in the last year, driven mainly by celebrity endorsements such as Stephen Fry @stephenfry.  If you don’t know who he is - look him up.  Unlike many celeb Twits, he does it himself.  It’s not PR. It’s personal. Sometimes he’s simply describing a walk...

An Incredible Knight Quantum Hobo Team Rider
Just realised today - the Littlest Hobo, Quantum Leap, Incredible Hulk, Knight Rider and the A-Team are all basically the same programme.   Pillars of my youth, I learned about helping people in need and being a good citizen through these programmes.  But they’re all the same.  Some random stranger (dog) comes into town or using some time-travel plot device, enters someones body.  Something...

Argh - "Broadband Britain"
Really - this is driving me nuts.  Trying to watch some stuff on the iPlayer and I’m lucky if I get about 10 seconds in before it buffers.  Turns out with a quick speed test I’m getting somewhere on average between 300Kbs and 600Kbs bandwidth.  I mean - seriously - what is going on? It’s not as though I live in the middle of the highlands, I’m about a mile from the...

Ok - so it’s about snow.  We’re completely hung up on the weather here in Britain, mainly because most of the time it’s not that great.  90% of the time the weather in Britain is just dull.  We don’t get typhoons - we don’t get tsunamis - we don’t get dangerously sweltering and prolonged heat waves.  We tend to get rain, you know, the little stuff - the kind...

BBC iPlayer - Top Gear: Series 12: Episode 8 →
Top Gear - the best programme on telly in the UK, nay, the world.  These guys have simply the greatest job imaginable.  Messing about all over the world for our entertainment, sticking a big two fingers up to political correctness and all gladly paid for by our license fee.  Love it.

You know what...
See - Twitter is great, but there’s a few simple rules that make someone a decent twit. retweet if you like a tweet. Mega-twits seem to be worried about sending followers to someone if they do this.  don’t use twitter as a way to simply drive traffic to your blog. post personal updates - you do more than work (I hope) reply publicly - direct messages again hide people most twits...
